The Mount girls had reason to be proud this weekend as they participated in a range of fantastic netball fixtures.
In the first of 3 consecutive days of play, the U12 and U13 teams were away at Fulford School on Thursday to challenge them in two fiercely competitive matches. It was a narrow loss for the U12 side as with they put up a commendable fight against the hosts. The girls kept their spirits (and their heads) high throughout the afternoon and maintained enthusiasm as they supported the elder team. It was a positive result for the U13’s as they took the win over their worthy opponents. Well done to everyone involved, and to POMs India and Peggy.
The following day began in similar vein as Year 5, and 6 girls travelled to St Peter’s School for their equally enthralling games. Two very close and hard-fought matches ensued, resulting in a win for the A team and an unfortunate loss for the B side. Not wanting to be deterred by their defeat, the players graciously recognised their strength in defence and noted shooting as an area to focus on for improvement.
Saturday was the U13 York Schools Netball tournament, and a fine morning for it indeed. The players participated in a total of 5 matches against several challengers, each with positive and negatives elements. The day concluded with wins for two games, and a great day had by all. Everyone that played demonstrated admirable grit and determination that they can take with them into future competitions.
