Wednesday’s wonderful Christmas concert certainly left the audience feeling the spirit of Christmas!
With a mixture of traditional carols and upbeat Christmas songs sung by the different choirs, plus a host of solo and ensemble performances, the audience of parents, friends, pupils and staff enjoyed a show that wonderfully encompassed the joy of the festive season.
The evening’s highlight had to be the Senior & Chamber Choirs’ eclectic performance of The 12 Days of Christmas. The updated version, arranged by Bob Chillcott, added a vibrant and fresh take on the carol and most of all it looked great fun to perform!
In the exuberant performance of the well-known carol the ‘Five Gold Rings’ refrain is re-written to appear in an array of guises: gentle soprano solo, swinging barbershop quartet, hard funk, and rock gospel style! College II singers and special guest Tenors, from York Minster, wowed the audience by effortlessly performing a variety of musical genres.
A highlights video of the concert will be available to view soon!

The evening came to an end with the audience joining in for a rounding rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
A huge well done go to all who performed in the concert and Dr Passmore, The Mount’s Director of Music. This was the Music Department’s first Christmas Concert since Dr Passmore took the helm and it did not disappoint! It was a wonderful evening full of Christmas cheer, with the audience departing smiling and humming ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas”
Thank you to the Music Department and everyone who performed in the fantastic concert and Happy Christmas to all who joined us!
