We are delighted to unveil exciting new plans to expand and enhance our educational and campus facilities. These developments aim to reinforce The Mount’s position as the school of choice for parents seeking an outstanding co-ed junior and all-girls senior education in a nurturing and forward-thinking environment.

Under the leadership of Anna Wilby, our new Head, this term has been a remarkable journey of achievement, performance and community spirit. Anna has praised the resilience, kindness, and dedication of Mount pupils, highlighting their commitment to both academic and extracurricular excellence.

Looking ahead, in our 240th year, we are embarking on a transformative campus masterplan designed to future-proof the school. The first phase of development includes relocating and enhancing the nursery provision within the main school site, ensuring a modern, engaging, and accessible environment for our youngest pupils, and providing much needed nursery places for the local community. The new site, located next to the main car park, offers extended provision, a safer and more efficient drop-off area for parents, a vastly improved internal environment with plans for an enhanced soft play area and easier access to a dedicated, secure outdoor play area within the school grounds. To make way for the new nursery, the Design and Technology department will be relocated and refurbished with enhanced, modern technology and equipment.

A brand-new, purpose-designed dance studio is also planned, reinforcing our commitment to our flourishing performing arts programme. These upgrades, together with investment in the education provision will be strategically funded through the sale of an underutilised portion of the school estate.

Phase one of the plan will begin imminently. Longer-term phases of the development are being explored to release equity for additional investment in the core educational capability, enhance the music and performing arts department, provide new sports facilities, padel courts and a multi-use games area. The overall vision will create additional inclusive, competitive sports opportunities for pupils and local communities, significantly improve the educational offer and support the school’s position as an all-Steinway school.

“These exciting plans represent a bold step forward for The Mount,” comments Anna Wilby. “By strategically reviewing our site, to ensure we are using it efficiently and effectively, we are ensuring that our pupils continue to benefit from an outstanding education in an environment that is both inspiring and future fit. Our vision is clear – to be the school of first choice for families seeking an exceptional, co-ed primary and all-girls senior education within a nurturing and vibrant community.”
