Spectacular Swimming Success at ‘The Yorkshires’

Three spectacular swimmers from The Mount School achieved great success whilst competing in the Yorkshire Swimming Association’s Winter competition last month.

Emma, Year 8

The series of competitive events take place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield and see competitive swimmers from various clubs and associations across Yorkshire engage in heats to qualify for the championships.

The skill level of the girls was evident from the offset as swimmers must qualify to enter the first round of competitions. India (Year 7), Emma (Year 8) and sister Jess (Year 6) all swam excellently and secured personal bests, for multiple strokes in some cases.

India finished 30th in her age category in Yorkshire, securing a Swim England North East Championship qualifying time.

Jess competed in a grand total of 5 events and achieved 5 personal bests, ultimately placing her 21st and 23rd in her Freestyle heats. Elder sister, Emma, competed in 2 events and earned a top 40 position in breaststroke and personal bests in both.

Following the Yorkshire Winter Competition, Jess has since swum in another gala, the South Axholme Sharks Halloween ABC Meet. She secured a further 4 personal bests across the 5 events in which she took part, won the 50m Freestyle (ironically the one event in which she did not secure a PB!) and came 2nd overall in her age group.
