Last week, The Mount Senior School Netball players travelled to Shropshire to take part in the PGL School Netball Tournament held at Boreatton Park.
In partnership with Netball England, the sport is the heart of the weekend, with tournaments taking place across the two days. As well as dedicated game time, the weekend featured a range of team-building activities and social engagements designed to get the girls interacting and making friends, both on and off the court.
After arriving at the beautiful grounds of the residential on Friday afternoon, the girls settled into their new accommodation before an evening around the campfire. It was an early start to the second day as the girls awoke eager to get stuck into a full day of competitive play. The U13 team wasted no time in achieving the first centre pass and goal of the game.
It was a great start to the first morning for all our senior teams as the U15s achieved a fantastic 19-0 win, and the U16s narrowly lost a heavily competitive game. The trend continued in the afternoon as the U14 and U15 teams also closed the day having won their last matches. In a true traditional camp celebration, the girls enjoyed dinner together before dancing into the evening at the disco.
As the second day unfolded, the girls prepared themselves for another afternoon of exciting play, battling it out for the top spot of the tournament. Alongside their respective finals, each team were able to take part in the other activities and were introduced to Leeds Rhinos Netball’s recent signing Paige Reed, who chatted with the girls and joined them for a photograph.
As the results show, each player put on a spectacular performance over the weekend, working hard and most importantly having a fun time doing so. A fantastic time was had by all.
