Junior School Peace Dove Display

Pupils in Junior School were kindly invited by The Bar Convent, York to take part in their Christmas display this year.  

Due to launch at the end of November, the Christmas display will feature handcrafted origami peace doves to represent the theme of ’Peace on Earth’ and is in collaboration with York charity, New Visuality.  

This wonderful community project has been selected to symbolise peace in the world at a time when war is still rife in Ukraine and there are ongoing conflicts elsewhere. The collection of doves aims to show solidarity and support to those countries at war and to encourage prayers for peace.  

The girls designed their own origami birds and followed the step-by-step video tutorial at home to create their beautiful, finished product. The final pieces were unique in design, with some girls using coloured paper, and others using felt tips to distinguish their features and decorate them in striking colours.
