The Mount School York is celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results which saw 8 and 9 grades the order of the day for many.
Among those celebrating today was Suki, she was ‘overwhelmed’ by her results. “I am very overwhelmed but happy! Thank you to my teachers for all the support over the last two years it’s been really helpful. I am looking forward to starting my A Levels at The Mount, I’m doing Maths, Chemistry and Biology.”
Equally enthused with her results, Millie added, “I am incredibly happy, especially with my maths results! My teachers and all the staff have been so helpful. My maths teachers gave me a lot of support by running extra sessions and offering help. They are amazing people!”
Despite the disruption to their typical teaching delivery, the year 11 pupils continued to flourish as they quickly adapted to new methods of online learning as proven in the results they achieved. Looking back on her time spent outside the classroom environment, Jemima reflects, “I am feeling relieved the hard work of the past two years has all paid off. The online teaching was amazing, it was a struggle for a lot of people, but the school handled it really well. We got a lot of support from teachers who ran extra study sessions.”
Also celebrating was Amy, who joined The Mount in Year 9. She adds, “I am really pleased! I was not expecting the results I got, especially in my maths. I am so thankful to The Mount. I have never had so much support from my teachers before. It helped, especially during study leave to be able to email my teachers and attend study sessions, the support was unbelievable!”
To continue the festivities through into the afternoon, the girls are planning a picnic on the Knavesmire. This wonderful opportunity will enable the group to unwind and relax after an apprehensive couple of months awaiting results.
Expressing his delight, Principal David Griffiths, said, “The girls have achieved an excellent set of results that reflects all the hard work of our girls and staff over the past two years. I am really proud of all the girls have achieved and look forward to seeing them continue to flourish in our Sixth Form.”
