Mount Girl Through and Through: Chloe’s Inspiring Speech

Every year, the College Leadership Team (Head Girls) deliver inspiring speeches to the entire Mount community at our annual Foundation Meeting. This week, we look back on these addresses, beginning with Chloe’s. A lifelong member of The Mount, having joined in Pre-School, Chloe has a wealth of cherished memories.

Hello, I’m Chloe and I’ve been at the mount for 15 years. One phrase I have always heard being said here ‘is once a Mount girl always a Mount girl’. But what does this mean? I’m finally in a position to truly define this phrase which is both sad and exciting as it means I’m ending my Mount journey but also shows that The Mount will always be a part of me.

Being a Mount girl means making the best memories. Memories are something you keep forever and I’m so fortunate to have had so many within the school’s grounds. Some of my favourites have been the College panto, smiley face charts in Year 5 and endless performances.

The Mount has a lot of quirky traditions from singing the school text to events such as Games in the Dark. In Junior School traditions such as a productions, like Annie this year, and forest school, where we would run through the woods, made growing up at The Mount exciting. It made sure we had fun whilst learning. These unique traditions throughout the school are what makes The Mount special.

Being a Mount girl means endless opportunities. Without being at this school, I wouldn’t have tackled people down a giant sand dune, won netball tournaments or spent time learning not only in the classrooms but across the world.

Being a Mount girl means we are always encouraged to strive for success. Ever since Junior school, we have been on many residential trips to build different skills. As I grew up through school, I have been taught a wide range of engaging subjects that have always kept me inspired. I know from being at The Mount School I will always live adventurously and think independently, these school values are the perfect ingredients for what the future holds.

By being a Mount girl, I’ve watched my friends and myself grow into the people we are today. If you had told Year 7 me, I would be standing here talking in front of a large group of people I wouldn’t have believed you. After looking up to many of the previous Mount girls stood here, giving similar speeches I feel grateful I have had the opportunity to be a part of the College Leadership Team. I have gained the confidence to achieve more than I had imagined all thanks to the Mount and its community.

By being a Mount girl, I’ve met my closest friends and had the best possible school experience. What has made it so special are all the people.  To my teachers I would like to thank all of you who have supported me.

To my friends, without all of you I wouldn’t have laughed so much and survived the challenges of A levels. I will miss you all and will be sad not to see all of your faces everyday. But I know we will remain friends for a long time.

My final thank you is to my family who have constantly supported me. Thank you to my parents who chose this school and have always been my biggest supporters. Thank you to my sisters, they are who I look up to although they’re both shorter than me!

I can truly say I’m proud to be a Mount girl and I always will be. For those of you still in school, cherish the moments you have with your friends, make new memories and continue to love The Mount traditions, one day you will miss it too.
