Sports Scholar Libby in Year 11 transformed herelf from elf to athlete in a matter of hours on Saturday as she raced from our MSA Christmas Fayre to compete in the Pentathlon GB Yorkshire Biathlon qualifier.
Libby has been representing The Mount in the competitive run–swim event since being introduced to the sport by Junior School teacher, Miss Harvey in her early years as a pupil. She has gone on to compete at county, regional and national level, with Miss Harvey and the rest of the Mount School community cheering her on along the way.
After ‘elflessly volunteering in the Santa’s Grotto at the Christmas Fayre, Libby ran 1600m on the track, followed by 200m free in the pool. All that earlier festive spirit must have proven beneficial as she smashed her previous PB and knocked 2 seconds off her swim time.
Libby placed 3rd in the County qualifier and came away with a medal to add to her collection. In the new year, she will hear if she has qualified for the national finals taking place in March 2024 and the opportunity to represent The Mount again.
Well done Libby!
