At The Mount School we support and encourage our pupils to continue to follow their ambitions long after they have left. Pupils and staff alike, look forward to hearing about the opportunities and challenges former pupils have experienced since leaving school.
In honour of #NationalApprenticeshipWeek2023, we caught up with 2020 College leaver, Georgia to learn more about her current apprenticeship role. “I am undertaking a Level 6 Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship at Greencore in their Commercial function.” As part of her apprenticeship scheme, Georgia will receive a BA (Hons) Management and Leadership and will gain Chartered Manager Level status upon completion of her fourth and final year.
Whilst at The Mount, Georgia completed A Levels in Mathematics, PE and History. The variety of subjects enabled her to leave school with a range of skills and a sense of empowerment unique to our all-girl setting. She recognises how she has successfully applied these skills and qualities to her apprenticeship, whatever role she may be undertaking. “I have completed a variety of tasks and projects. I have spent one year in the Launch and New Product Development team at Selby in the Sauces Category. In my second year I have joined the Shopper Marketing team working across all customer and categories. Currently I am working on the Southern accounts, leading the Waitrose account and supporting on Tesco and Sainsbury’s. As well as project work across all categories and customers.”
Georgia is keen to highlight the importance of exploring a range of opportunities to find the career goal that suits you. “The research is worth it, and I encourage anyone to at least investigate different options out there, as university is not the only route.”
“A degree apprenticeship is an opportunity to gain a degree, 4 years’ work experience, an income, no debt, and a chartered level status. This rewarding experience will set you above and beyond other candidates. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience so far and have gained personal skills that are invaluable.”
“It is hard work, and managing the workload is no mean feat. Organisation and a genuine passion to achieve is required.”
