The Mount nurtures a spirit of peace, equalitiy and social justice, and girls are actively encouraged to participate in School life, be it through Committees (Eco Committee, Sports Committee, Boarding Committee, Charity Reps Committtess, to name but a few) or through our many plays, productions, music groups, activities and clubs and societies.
The School community is founded on The Mount's roots as a Quaker boarding School. All staff and pupils share, and benefit from, the Quaker values of care, responsibility and helping others.
These values are clear in the close links between school and home and the extensive support given to new pupils. They are also demonstrated in the School's strong volunteering tradition with opportunities ranging from working with refugees, to mentoring younger pupils and from assisting with a local project for the homeless in York, to reducing the School's environmental impact.
Current students benefit from the example and inspiration of Mount Old Scholars who actively offer their experience and expertise to the School community.
