Dance Show Case

Unfortunately, due to to Covid-19, the original showcase planned for June 2021 was postponed, rearranged and eventually cancelled. However, staff and girls were determined not to let their hard work be missed so they decided to record the final performance to share with families. The resulting video saw Mount School girls from Year 3 to Sixth Form take to the stage for a celebration of dance featuring 15 different performances.

P.E and Dance Teacher Miss Newman and Caroline (College II), choreographed and taught group performances to girls from Year 3 to Year 10 during the Autumn Term in lessons and extra curricular clubs. The show presented a variety of dance styles, showcasing the talents, versatility and enthusiasm of the pupils. Performances include Year 9’s Jazz dance to Abba’s Gimme Gimme Gimme, Year 3 & 4’s modern dance to Zero to Hero and a contemporary piece from Year 10 to Gravity. The final performances were recorded in front of the rest of the year groups taking part. Despite the many challenges the girls faced along the way they were delighted to finally take to the stage to perform.

On the day of the recording Ms Perks, Deputy Principal took to the stage to congratulate the girls, ‘Well done to everyone who took part in the Dance Showcase. The amount of talent on display was just outstanding, I was impressed by the skill and energy of all the dancers. The staff and girls involved did an amazing job in bringing together such a fantastic show.’

The Dance showcase also features solo and duet pieces from some of The Mount’s extremely talented dances. Dancing styles varied from Ballet, Lyrical, Contemporary and Modern Jazz. The videos were recorded earlier in the year and entered to the Northern School Dance Competition. The talented dancers also performed their solo pieces for the rest of the Senior School during Wednesday’s Morning Meeting. Angelina (Year 8), Ava (Year 10), Lilia (Year 10), Scarlett (Year 10), Alexia (Year 7) and Caroline (College II) gave performances that were simultaneously elegant, graceful and powerful.

Update! 11 February 2022
