We are currently seeking to recruit a talented, inspirational, well-qualified Teacher of Drama and LAMDA. Ideally, the successful candidate should be an experienced LAMDA teacher, and be able to teach Drama to A-Level.
At the Mount School York Drama is taught as a separate subject in KS3, and offered at GCSE and A-Level. The successful candidate will in the first instance teach all peripatetic LAMDA lessons across both the Junior and Senior School, from KS1 to Sixth Form. The applicant should have an excellent understanding and broad knowledge of theatre practice and theory, covering a range of practitioners, styles and traditions from different cultures and eras. They should also be an experienced LAMDA teacher and have a track record of success in that field.
LAMDA is a thriving extra-curricular activity at The Mount and we have a track record of achieving distinctions across the board in all LAMDA categories, including Gold Medal standard. The total teaching time in any academic year varies according to the number of pupils who request peripatetic LAMDA lessons. The successful candidate will also be expected to play a part in running wider extra-curricular Drama activities, including working with the Head of English on the annual school production.
