Modest Mount Pastry Chef, Dorota – who delights us every day with marbled sponges, brownies, Bakewell tarts, flapjack, decorated cupcakes, muffins, crumbles and more besides – has been recognised at the esteemed Cake International competition at Birmingham NEC for the second time.
A previous Bronze winner, Dorota has now achieved a Merit for her superb ‘flying white tiger cake’ which she entered into the category of mythological animals.
A month in the making, this beautiful creation lights up and is entirely edible. Even the life-like eyes (sugar glass) and downy wings (wafer paper) can be eaten.
Talented Mount Pastry Chef, Dorota, said:
“I love white tigers and I love making beautiful cakes so I combined the two. I was pleased to achieve a Merit as the standard was incredible. I can’t wait to show the pupils at Choc Lunch (break time) to see what they think.”
Mary, Year 8, said:
“It’s amazing. I thought it was real, or CGI. I want to eat it!”
Co-Principal, Jo Goudriaan, said:
“The Mount is renowned for great food. Visitors always comment positively, and new staff often say they heard the food was wonderful here. Part of that is definitely down to Dorota’s dessert mastery. She is so popular with staff and pupils alike not only for her perfect pastries but also for her lovely smile and friendly conversation. We are so proud of Dorota. This creation is exquisite, and the accolade and recognition so well-deserved.”
